These products must comply with the specified Indian standards (IS standards) and cannot be manufactured, imported, or sold without the standard mark bearing the license registration number (R-number) obtained from BIS. Manufacturers (manufacturing plants) must conduct safety standard tests at BIS-accredited laboratories in India to obtain a license from BIS, and then apply for product registration in accordance with Scheme 2 of the BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations 2018.
